What is the difference between yeasting and fermentation?
Yeast is a micro organism, a single-celled mould. There are many kinds of yeasts. The best known is the one used for bread and beer.
Both yeasting and fermentation are processes involving micro organisms. Fermentation can be done by yeasts, bacteria and moulds, separately or in combination with each other. For yeasting, only yeast is used.
There are many products that are fermented. Examples are yoghurt, cheese, beer, wine, olives, sauerkraut, salami, tea, bread, tempe, tofu and cider.
