543 Sodium calcium polyphosphate

Produced from sodium phosphate and calcium phosphate from non-animal origin.

Function & Characteristics:
Used as emulsifier and stabiliser.
Processed cheese, frozen bakery products

Acceptable daily intake (ADI):
Up to 70 mg/kg bodyweight.

Side effects:
Polyphosphates may inhibit digestive enzymes in high concentrations.

Dietary restrictions:
None. 543 can be used by all religious groups, vegetarians and vegans.
